We strongly recommend that you have whatever furnishings you require personally measured by us to ensure your soft furnishings fit perfectly. After all would you risk having your replacement windows supplied without being measured by their surveyor, or your bespoke 3 piece suit made without your tailor measuring you?
When measuring for curtains and blinds we recommend using a metal tape as these are more accurate than the alternatives. However for soft furnishing such as bedspreads and valances use a flexible tape to allow you to follow the shapes and contours of the bed. Always remember to measure every width and drop in more than one place to allow for any irregularities in the frame, ceilings and floors.
It will be more accurate if your track or pole is already in place but if you have to measure before fitting the pole then we suggest you accurately mark the position of pole/track on the wall and measure from that. It is not necessary for you to make allowances for fabric gather as this is included in our curtain calculations.
Always check for potential obstructions such as window handles etc. which may affect the raising and lowering of the blind. Unlike curtains all measurements for Roman and Roller Blinds should be to the nearest millimeter. Decide where you will fit the blind mechanism (the baton where the top of the blind is attached).
To ensure your soft furnishings fit perfectly we will always recommend that we visit your home to personally measure all windows and recesses. However if you insist we are prepared to make up your curtains or blinds from your own measurements but we must point out that doing so puts the responsibility on you to make sure these are accurate.
