Services
If your chimney is blocked, even partially, there could be a real risk that your chimney catches fire, putting you at risk of suffering from serious, or even fatal, illness by the effects of harmful emissions being released. These emissions are produced by any heating appliances, including open fires and stoves.
If you start to find twigs and leaves or other debris in your fireplace, it is a sure sign that something has set up home in your chimney. A blockage can be very serious, particularly if you have a gas or Parkray-type fire, because of the emission of carbon monoxide. The chimney of an open fire could become blocked, which could result in smoke entering the room or even a chimney fire.
Cages, caps and cowls are items placed on chimneys to prevent birds nesting, protect against rain, down draughts, and guard against blockages causing carbon monoxide problems or to Protect chimneys that are no longer used from birds or rodents. Fitting the right cage, cowl or cap is very important.
Occasionally problems occur with chimneys that can't easily be seen. If this is the case, we are able to offer an inspection service that involves pushing a camera into the flue, in a similar way to sweeping the actual chimney. CCTV inspection can be very useful for assessing any damage when getting quotes for any remedial work, and for providing evidence for insurance or repair purposes.
