John Willetts Fireplaces & Stove Centre is an independently owned family run business established since 1975 with two showrooms, one in Spennymoor Co Durham and the other at Wrekenton in Gateshead. The business has grown from a one-man band working from a garage, growing and developing over the years culminating in to the largest fireplace showroom in the North East of England.

We had a log burning stove installed just before Christmas 2022. The fitters worked hard and efficiently. Clearing the rubble as they continued to knock out the old fire place and gas fire. Both days they turned up at the time they said they would. The final finish to the plastering was good and now it is painted one has to look hard for the join.

Had an old stone fireplace removed and inset stove and pine surround installed in 2011 which I was absolutely delighted with. Earlier this year I had a problem with smoke coming back into my room so got the chimney checked out as I noticed jackdaws going into the chimney pot and thought that a nest had been built and thus stopping the smoke from exiting. Further investigation revealed that the chimney serving my stove had been capped off and that smoke had been egressing through damaged brickwork into the neighbouring chimney which served an old bedroom fire, long out of use. There was now a nest

Unhelpful.
We needed a spare part but John Willetts were unhelpful and refused to supply it in case they ordered the wrong thing.
I won’t be buying anything from them again if this is a sign of their customer service.

The staff were very rude and ignored us. When we asked for help in choosing a suitable fire the woman who couldn't be bothered stepping from behind her counter barked "they are all over just choose one". Needless to say we promptly left the store and spent our £600 elsewhere.

Wanted to buy a gas fire and surround, walked into the John Willetts showroom which at the far end had a counter with 4 to 5 ladies behind, all looked up at us then looked down and continued with their work.
Wandered around looking at the products thinking that we would be approached with an offer of help, sadly nobody bothered themselves about us. The main showroom has a number of rooms running off it so decided to explore, still nobody sought us out, you have to walk past the counter to reach these rooms.
