Having worked with PV solar power systems since the early nineties, Simon designed and installed his first grid connected energy system in 2003, before establishing Run by the Sun Ltd in 2007. We are a small, friendly, family run business based in Leicester who specialise in the design, installation and service of quality PV solar systems.
The good news is that solar PV is a technology that is suitable for the vast majority of homes in the UK. An ideal property would have a large, south facing roof area with a pitch of between 30 to 45 degrees and little shading. In most cases, using the latest solar module and inverter products, Run By The Sun can still design a solar PV system that will work efficiently on your property.
PV Solar cells are made from layers of semi conducting material, usually silicon. When light shines on the cell it creates an electric field across the layers. The stronger the sunshine, the more electricity is produced. Groups of cells are mounted together in panels or modules that can be mounted on your roof.
