James Bell Architecture Ltd is a rural architecture and design practice with proven experience of realising opportunities for development sites located in sensitive and challenging settings such as Conservation Areas, Open Countryside and Green Belt.

We have successfully obtained planning and listed building approvals for sites of heritage asset as well as buildings that require sympathetic design intervention to bring them a new lease of life and commercial value. We combine professional support with creativity, engaging with our clients through the whole design process to ensure their individual aspirations are met.

This begins with the assembly of design ideas and critical review, to sketch solutions and three dimensional modelling, the planning application and finally the technical designs to visualise the completion of the project.

A beautiful traditional new home in the village of Lower Peover and Green Belt. We worked closely with ours clients from the early stages to ensure their aspirations for an effortless looking traditional design was achieved, marrying hand made brick and green oak on the outside with tastefully presented spaces to live inside.
A contemporary new home situated in the Green Belt of Plumley granted planning permission in 2016. The proposals replaced a tiny workman's cottage to create this beautiful two storey dwelling. The appearance has a combination of cedar cladding, mono-couche render, slate and black engineering brick.
A replacement of an existing and tired Victorian Farmhouse, this new dwelling takes it's cues from the heritage of its predecessor and marrying it with modern 21st Century living. The key criteria for our client was to retain the design appearance of the historic frontage, orientate the primary accommodation to face the rolling Cheshire plains and to create a traditional but modern new farmhouse that is adaptable for future living arrangements.
A traditional farmhouse for a 21st Century farm. This project was commissioned to provide an additional farm dwelling on a large Free Range Egg Farm in Brereton. The design provides a traditional brick and local sandstone frontage with a handmade clay tiled roof. A distinctive oak framed and glazed gable to the rear elevation offers a contrasting contemporary design element that captures the views over the rolling Cheshire plains.
