Girl about the house is a family run business which started home interior design services in Stockport, the business is owned and managed by Jan Rothwell and her husband John. We now provide our home interior design services to customers across South Manchester, Tameside and more recently in Shropshire.
We believe the business runs smoother when fewer people are involved, consequently, most services are provided by ourselves. Any products or services that we cannot provide will be outsourced to trusted service providers of which we have personally used. Our services include. Jan and John were a pleasure to deal with during the renovation of my Victorian property. As is often the case with houses of this age, the job became increasingly complicated as the work progressed, and both John and Jan were very good at communicating with me and together we managed to come up with creative solutions for every curve ball the house threw at us.

Most of our business services are handled 'in house' as we believe the business runs smoother when less people are involved, therefore we have no 'middlemen' where the message may 'get lost', leaving our customers unhappy. Thanks to their hard work I had a much more saleable house at the end of the process as demonstrated by it selling within a week of putting it on the market.
Children's bedrooms redesign and makeovers by Cheshire and Shropshire based home interior design and home renovation company - Girl About The House. Customer requirements: Client wanted an exciting, striking, colourful, childrens bedroom/playroom, with plenty of storage that will not date and grow with the children.
Customer requirements: Football mad youngster wanted his bedroom to look like the Manchester United dressing room and incorporate a mural as well. We only had 2 metres by 2 metres so it was quite a squeeze getting both looks in. The football shirts represent Jamie's favourite players and are made from mounting board and hand painted.
Customer requirements: Customer requested exciting, striking, colourful, childrens bedroom/playroom, with plenty of storage that will not date and grow with the children. Sanded down and painted toddler bed green, then hand built and painted a truckle to slide under the bed providing storage for bedding.
