Graham Swain BA (Hons) Architecture - Proprietor of Earth Architecture, involves you at all stages to ensure you are happy. This helps to reassure and encourage you to maintain and enjoy your garden after completion. Gardening is in Graham's blood. His ancestor, John Stewart, was Head Gardener for Lord Palmerston at his estate, Broadlands in Hampshire.
Graham is a landscape garden designer, project manager, is fully hands-on and works in your garden personally from the start through to completion, a great advantage over many competitors. With his architectural and horticultural training Graham constantly tweaks your garden project each day to give you the best garden for your budget.
Earth Architecture restores neglected gardens, bringing them back to life and improving them where needed. Restoration is pruning, mainly. Graham specialises in pruning. Thank you for all your hard work, advice and ideas in our recent garden work. You have left us with a garden we can now sit in and enjoy - it appears so much larger and lighter and now is a pleasure to be in.
There is no such thing as no maintenance gardens but low or lower maintenance gardens can be achieved with careful consideration and striking the right balance between what clients wish to do in their own garden and the things they would rather avoid. With this in mind, lawns are high maintenance and so too some plants in pots.

When I bought my house, I acquired a typical small, square 1970s garden. It contained a deck that was lethal in the slightest drizzle, a seriously scrappy lawn (previous owners had 2 kids and dog) and three very ugly spiky things. Of the half dozen designers I spoke to, Graham was the only one who got what I wanted from the garden and how it would be used. The decking is now a limestone terrace with a raised bed adjacent, where low growing plants are interspersed with herbs. Graham and his team totally transformed our back garden by adding a beautiful patio, wooden lattice trellis panels and some beautiful climbing plants. They also laid foundations for a log cabin and a shed, moved and rebuilt an existing shed and seeded new lawn areas. Graham used his knowledge and experience to design the patio layout incorporating existing garden features where possible. The work was completed in a very timely, friendly and professional manner all at a very reasonable price. We are extremely happy with the quality of the workmanship and are looking forward to Graham and his team

Graham and Ian did an amazing job for us transforming our garden pond and an overgrown and disused vegetable patch into a beautiful orchard. We weren’t really certain how best to use the space but Graham is so knowledgeable that were happy for him to advise us and we were delighted with the end result. His customer care is excellent and nothing is too much trouble. He has visited us several times since to check in the fruit trees he planted. We are Planning on having our front garden landscaped shortly and I wouldn’t dream of asking anyone other than Graham to design it for us.
