The National Association of Chimney Sweeps (NACS) formed in 1982 as a professional trade association, promoting high standards for the sweeping, inspection, and maintenance of chimneys. I offer a professional, certified and registered chimney sweeping service along the A3 corridor between Portsmouth and Godalming, and surrounding areas.

I offer traditional rods and brushes sweeping, modern power sweeping, bird nest removal, cowl fitting, and CCTV surveys. All of my work conforms to the NACS code of conduct, is fully insured, and I issue insurance valid Certificates of Sweeping. If I'm unable to answer when you call please leave a message and I'll get right back to you as soon as I can.
Services
How much does it cost to have my chimney swept? This depends on a number of factors including the type of appliance or chimney, the time the job will take to complete properly, and the location within the UK. A standard sweep is 35 and I'll always discuss and agree costs with you before starting work.
Chimneys and flues play an essential role in the safe operation of wood burning stoves, open fires, and oil or gas fired stoves by carrying the waste products of combustion to the outside air. Sweeping ensures the safe passage of these waste products.
Bird nests, masonry, incorrect terminals/pots/cowls, and poor ventilation can also cause problems. If your fire or stove is not performing as normal, or you're experiencing a smoky room, blow back, slow burning fire or debris coming down the chimney or flue, then you may well be in need of a sweep.
I use either a traditional rods and brushes system, or a rotary power sweeping system, depending on the condition of the chimney/flue. The days of sooty rooms requiring hours of cleaning afterwards are long gone. I use hearth sheets to protect carpets and floors, seal the chimney opening before commencing with cleaning, and have a purpose built industrial vacuum cleaner.
Stoves have a recommended fuel which should be used; normally wood or coal. Check the owners manual or data plate if unsure. The data plate should be found close to the appliance itself, or next to the electric or gas meters. The heat output of coal is much greater than that of wood, and coal burns for longer, too.

James did an excellent job sweeping our chimney today. Clean and tidy, no mess. Loads of useful advice as well, I learnt a lot this morning! Highly recommended.
