Gus Alexander Architects is an architectural practice based in Smithfield in central London. Most of our work is for private residential clients, although we also work for a number of boutique hoteliers and for a specialist Housing Association which offers sheltered accommodation for single, homeless people. The majority of our work is remodelling and extending Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian houses and flats. Most of these are in conservation areas, and about a quarter are Listed Buildings.
We offer a personal bespoke architectural service and can either advise and provide drawings required to obtain local authority consents and approvals, or we can offer a comprehensive service which also includes overseeing construction work on site and managing the financial and contract arrangements with builders.

Services
Gus Alexander Architects was established over 20 years ago and since 1995 has been based in Clerkenwell, London. Our practice specialises in bespoke, residential refurbishment work.
Although we continue to work for commercial clients, such as special needs housing associations, on refurbishments to licensed premises, and for a private hotel group, most of our commissions are from private clients who wish to refurbish, remodel or extend their house or flat.

Since 1995 Gus Alexander has written a regular column in Building, the construction magazine of record, a selection of which can be found here. For the architect, the country offers variety, novelty and the prospect of tanned craftsmen toiling in the wolds. But if you want control over a project, stick to the city.
