Most UPVC doors are fitted with a multi-point locking system. With this type of locking system, when you lift the handle and turn the key the door will lock at several different points. Most insurance companies now insist on a cylinder lock with at least 5 pins. If the euro lock cylinder on your upvc door is broken we can change it or upgrade it to 3 Star TS007 cylinder.

I called Richard to come and fit a sturdier lock as there had been some burglaries in the area. I initially planned to replace front and back door locks but Richard advised me that my back door lock was more than sufficient and didn’t need replaced - I’m sure others may not have been as honest and simply replaced the lock and charged me for it. He did replace the front door lock very efficiently and at a competitive price. Will definitely use again and have already recommended Hero Locksmith to neighbours.

Called Hero Locksmith after a key broke in my door lock. He arrived less than an hour later, fixed the problem very quickly, and was very reasonably priced. (He was also upfront about any costs when I called, so no hidden charges!). Great service, friendly, professional, and I would highly recommend.

I locked myself out of my flat yesterday and googled for locksmiths in the area. Richard Hero Locksmith came up and I gave him a call after another one said they couldn't come. He came in less than half an hour and opened the door in seconds! Without having to break it open! Very friendly and loves dogs! Will definitely use again if this happens but hope i won't have to!!

We recently had our lock replaced by Richard. Apart from being a very nice guy and not shy of answering all our security questions, he did a great job at a very reasonable price. I particularly like that he didn't try to sell anything, but gave his honest opinion on what's necessary and what's not necessary in terms of security.

Great service from a local business, would certainly recommend. My front (UPVC) door lock had broken in that the key simply spun around (but the door was closed and locked). This was not the easiest job to solve, the old lock had to be drilled out. Everything done, and new lock installed in just over an hour of arriving. Richard also realigned the door, so that it would lock easier in the future. Cost seemed quite reasonable given the parts fitted and time taken. Richard himself was very friendly, and showed / explained everything to me.

Looking on Edinburgh Council's website I came across 'Trusted Trader' (Edinburgh.gov.uk/trustedtrader). This is a great initiative that seeks to increase our confidence around selecting tradesmen. All those listed are vetoed and undergo extensive checks. It was here I discovered Hero Locksmith. Friendly, prompt service. Richard came within 20 min of my call and managed to get me into my neighbour's flat (I was feeding the cat - not breaking in!) He had to drill out the old deadlock and replace this - which was slightly pricey (I guess the whole point of a deadlock is that it can't be picked), but then he didn't charge me for the call-out or for opening the other lock - which was very kind of him. Highly recommended!
