Wood boring beetles can infest most timbers in buildings over a certain age.
There are many different species of wood borers that can cause problems, but the two most widespread and active are the Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium punctatum) which normally affects softwood timbers, and the even more prolific Death Watch Beetle (Xestobium rufovillosum) which is usually found infesting hardwood timber, particularly in older buildings like churches; over the years, Bensleys has come to the rescue of many churches throughout the Sussex area.

Bensleys offers a full design installation service for basement structural waterproofing following British Standard BS8102, designated as 'the protection of structures against water from the ground'. All works are carried out utilising a suitable BBA Certificate Product, and works are carried out to current British Standards including BR211 and BR222, also referring to BR414.

Bensleys have now completed several contracts for me, throughout Sussex involving timber treatment and damp proofing. Their surveyors have always been efficient and helpful. I have built up a good relationship with this company as they always go above and beyond. The office staff are always friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend them.B

Bensleys came to do a damp survey on a property I was buying in Hanover in January as I suspected a south facing wall was damp. The report stated no damp and no intervention required. After moving into the property It was very clear there WAS damp in that area so I got them to come back and do another survey 6 months after the first one. They told me it was very damp and I needed to get damp proofing done! I dont know who paid off who here to get that initial fake report but i ABSOLUTELY DO NOT recommend this company!! When I confronted them about it I was told “it had rained a lot since January”

I recently had Bensleys in to damp-proof my flat I have recently purchased and cannot fault them. Being a first time buyer this experience was very daunting, especially realising my flat had a damp issue. I instructed them to carry out an inspection firstly, which was free and I received a very well written report, explaining the issues and how to fix them. Afterwards, I then instructed them to carry out the works, which were carried out to a very high standard! There was very little mess for such a disruptive job and the gentlemen working were very friendly, hardworking and professional. Very

Bensleys not only came highly recommended to me through property circles, they are also a local & experienced, specialist
Company who know the properties in this area well. Their staff are prompt
To respond to calls & emails & are thorough, friendly & helpful. We asked for a full inspection & survey report & quote; the surveyor explained everything thoroughly during the inspection & further produced a report that was both accurate, concise & helpful. We won’t hesitate to recommend them in the future.

A big thankyou to Bensleys for doing such a great job of damproofing under our stairs a few weeks ago in Jan '19 at our property
It was a pleasure to have Bensleys worker in the house, as he worked quietly and considerately every morning for 5 days, and always left the site tidy. He was also very polite and clear about what he was doing and how long the job would take on each day, which was helpful as me & my partner both work from home and so we could plan around it.
This is the 3rd job over 15 years we've had done by Bensleys, one in a Brighton flat (tanking a bathroom in basement flat, successful
