How to clean a wood stove chimney? A: The chimney is swept in much the same way, We use power sweeping technology to remove all the debris from the flue. This technique is safer and removes more of the soot and tar build up than traditional methods. Q: Chimney sweep how often? A: In the UK, a Chimney needs to be swept at least every year that it is in use, otherwise your home insurance may be invalid.
Q: How do you know when your chimney need sweeping? A: Simple! If you have not had your chimney swept in the last year then it should need to be swept and a safety check completed. Q: Can I have a fire the night before a chimney sweep arrives? A: You can have a fire in any open fireplace or stove but please remove all hot ash and allow it to cool before we get there.
Q: Why does my chimney need sweeping? Is it really necessary? A: Yes - for safety reasons, if nothing else. Sweeping your chimney will stop the build-up of creosote and soot which reduces the danger of chimney fires and other risks such as soot falls and blockages.

Why settle for the old ways of sweeping a flue? Previously a client had only two choices when thinking of having a flue swept: the brush and rod or the line and ball methods. Both methods were stuck in the past, until now. They have been proved to be less than gentle to your chimney liner and its construction.
I would highly recommend Graham he was very friendly, helpful and tidy. He did a great job and even provided assistance by advising on a new cowl to stop squirrels coming down the chimney. Just moved into a new house with a log burner so rang GJP to get it swept and inspected before use. Graham is very professional, friendly and knowledgable.
Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas that has no smell or taste. Breathing it in can make you unwell, and it can kill if you're exposed to high levels. Carbon monoxide is produced when fuels are burned incompletely. Even burning your toast or chops! All these fuels are found in the domestic/recreational and working environment.
In total there are four levels of creosote: 1st Degree, 2nd Degree, and 3rd Degree creosote. The final stage, 4th Degree is as a result of a Chimney Fire. 1st Degree is a light, fine powder that tells us the system is burning well. 1st Degree can be cleaned without issue. This is usually swept away using power sweeping technology, and usually consists of soot, Ash and sulpher in the case of smokeless fuel.

Top professional. We wanted a log burner installed but we did not know anything about them. He was very knowledgeable and took time to explain everything to us clearly. He quoted for full install which was very competitive, I could not find a cheaper log burner online. He completed the install of out log burner and we love it. We can't wait to sit in front of it in the Winter.
Thanks for a high quality service!
