Insite Fixings
Insite Southern offer a complete specialist service in the eradication of woodborer infestation, fungal decay and dampness found in buildings. Our principal activities are detailed within this website but we further undertake stone and masonry pressure cleaning together with the application of exterior water repellents and algicides.

We use exclusively the "Wykamol" range of products and techniques using "environmentally friendly" chemicals and have the full backing of their research and development. As Southampton's oldest contractor, our enviable reputation has afforded us the opportunity to undertake remedial treatments to many domestic and commercial properties, churches, historic buildings, stately homes and museums throughout Southern England.

We are approved contractors to various Local Authorities, Housing Associations, National Trust, English Heritage and leading Building Societies. Trained operatives and technical staff are experienced and fully conversant with all aspects of building preservation and conservation.
Services
Traditional building methods combined with a predominantly damp temperate climate causes the UK housing stock to suffer some of the highest levels of risk from insect and fungal attack in structural timbers. Woodworm is widely used to collectively describe the numerous species of woodboring insects which can attack our homes.
Rising damp is a common problem in older properties either because no damp proof course was provided at the time of construction or because a physical membrane has failed or been "bridged". In the majority of cases the provision of a remedial damp proof course is a cost effective option with minimum disturbance to the occupier.
Converting a damp cellar or basement can be an inexpensive way of increasing living space and can substantially increase the value of the property. Basement conversions are becoming increasingly popular as property becomes more expensive and we endeavour to utilise former storage space to provide valuable living accommodation.
Dry rot is the most destructive form of fungal decay found in buildings and in ideal conditions can spread at an average rate of 3.5M per annum and can grow behind plaster and penetrate both concrete and masonry decaying any timber it is path. DRY ROT and WET ROT are common terms used to describe fungi which often attack timber in our homes.
The Building Research Establishment assess that there are approximately 8 million sufferers of condensation in the UK every year. Condensation is a natural by-product of modern living which is a real menace and the effects are often very unpleasant - streaming windows, mould, peeling wallpaper and the tell- tale dank smell of rot and decay.

Positive: Professionalism
Very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Dean cam and explained really clearly what he was going to do. When I came back the next day the place was spotless - the only reason I knew they had done the work was the bare plaster. Thanks.

Charlatans in my opinion, salesman who claimed to be a surveyor couldn't even tell the difference between lime mortar and cement, hardly shows knowledge about heritage buildings does it?

The previous adverse review by CJ is a nonsense and was most likely posted by a disgruntled competitor. Indeed, Insite are very proud of their longstanding reputation. Guarantee claims are handled professionally and laboratory analysis of brick and plaster samples is usually undertaken to determine the exact cause of the reoccurring dampness which can often be attributable to the migration of residual salts within the substrate. Thereafter, written reports are submitted detailing any conclusions and/or recommendations. This has been the case for the last 40 years of trading across the South coast

Can not recomend this company. The damp came back and they refused to honour their "warranty". They stopped answering the phone and when I sent them signed for letters, they would not sign and returned them. Avoid.
