The stuff of life makes us hum. Ullmayer Sylvester Architects are a design-led architectural studio. We incorporated in 2005 following our participation in a collaborative custombuild housing project in North London. Since then we have created fine, handcrafted projects, which have been widely published and which won an accolade of national and international awards including two RIBA Awards, a Wood Award and Hackney Design Awards.
As a studio question and re-invent typologies with enthusiasm and a sense of optimism. We never see spaces in isolation, but as part of a larger collection of rooms and spaces and set within a wider context. As such have have developed an ability to make the smallest spaces feel generous and special and make them work at many levels.
As a practice we engage in domestic, custombuild but also niche urban and community context to make high quality, beautiful projects and environments. We work closely with our consultants and with our contractors through every step of the design and construction process to deliver both cost effective and elegant designs.

Services
Construction projects are typically delivered in a series of work stages, which allow the design to be developed, tested and built - from developing the project brief with your architect to moving back in. Our process is based on the RIBA work stages, which we then tailor around each client and their specific requirements.

Extremely highly recommended. I was originally drawn to Silvia and Allan's architectual work because of the aesthetics of their previous projects - I love their style as well as their functional approach to design.
They took me through the process of the conversion of my attic space, almost doubling the floor space of my flat and doing a comprehensive renovation and remodelling of the flat at the same time. They helped me by designing the overall plans and getting the plans through a lengthy council planning process, then facilitating required structural design plans and site managing the building

I really enjoyed working with Silvia and the team at ullmayer sylvester architects who created an absolutely stunning basement flat as well as a ground floor rear extension in a conservation area in Clapton, Hackney.
We worked well as a team through all stages of the project and together we pushed sustainable technologies. I love the way the architects worked high quality, long lasting, simple materials and am particularly fond of the amazing rear extension roof. The way they designed natural light into the basement is simply delightful and far beyond our expectation. I love their attention to

Amazing architects.. we worked with them for two years on our Victorian house in Hackney and we're so happy with the results.. Breathtaking mix of modern and traditional. Silvia and Allan are so easy to work with and really quickly got to grips with what we wanted and then augmented our vision into something so much more.
