Archibald McCorquodale & Son Ltd was founded in 1911 as jobbing slaters based in the Govanhill area of Glasgow. We are proud of the fact that we have always been owned and managed by the same family. Currently the fourth generation, the great grandsons of the founder run the company. Over the years we have responded to market needs and have diversified from our roots.

Staff Report

The Company is owned and managed by Colin McCorquodale, a Chartered Building Surveyor with some 24 years industry experience and Gavin McCorquodale, a time served roof slater and tiler with some 25 years experience. Both Colin and Gavin are past president's of the Scottish Master Slaters and Roof Tilers Association.

Traditional Roofing Report

This is at the heart of our Company. We undertake all aspects of traditional pitched roofing work. This may involve anything from minor jobbing maintenance work such as replacing a small number of slipped slates to a full strip and re-slate of a large roof. We are well equipped and experienced in all aspects of work associated with roof slating and tiling.

Leadwork Report

Whilst often carried out in conjunction with reroofing works, our leadworkers also undertake a substantial amount of stand alone leadwork replacements. These include renewal of defective lead flashings, installation of wallhead cappings, renewal of lead lined gutters and recovering of lead flat roofs.

Metal Cladding Report

Renewal of damaged wall cladding panels and trims, repairs to sheet roofs, renewal of fragile rooflights, installation of composite pannels, overlay roofs to existing fibre cement sheet roofs and gutter renewal or relining. The majority of these works are undertaken to industrial units although we have undertaken such works to domestic garage properties.

We had to have a full re-roof of our property after only 7 years due to faulty workmanship. This was a huge decision as we were worried that we would only have the same problems afterwards. Gavin, Ryan and the team worked hard to ensure that everything was going to work as it should at the same time as considering the aesthetics of the property. Team on site were hardworking and decent.
We now have a full working roof with all snagging works complete in good time inside (Velux intrusion) and out! I would recommend this company to anybody considering a new roof.

I would recommend this company. We used them for a large and expensive re-roofing project. Gavin McCorquodale is a trustworthy man and his tradesmen are quality individuals very experienced in their disciplines. A case of pay more and you get value.
