We build and design wagons for private customers and small businesses. We have also worked with larger commercial customers such as The National Trust, Folly Farm (adventure park and zoo) and Gisela Graham of London. Established in 2010, Fernhills is a small family business building modern versions of English and French Gypsy Caravans.
Every model has been designed by us from the wheels up but we have taken care to ensure that the overall look is still sympathetic to the original. Many original gypsy caravans haven't survived due to the materials and the way they were built. We've changed all that! Each and every wagon is built using modern timber framed housing techniques and is fully insulated with Sheep's wool.
Boasting the latest technology in windows, advanced paint systems and a solid steel chassis our wagons are built to reduce time spent on maintenance and increase longevity. External designs and interior layouts are drawn using 3D modelling software which helps you visualise the end product before the build starts.

Services
Bohemian and full of character La Grande Roulotte brings nature to your doorstep but without compromising on comfort. We have included a well equipped family bathroom (with a shower, sink and toilet), a kitchenette, a full sized double bed and two single day beds making this a real family holiday home.
For those seeking a larger internal space, our Showman's or Circus wagon is the ideal choice. The Showman's wagon is built on a 6.5 x 2.440 metre chassis, typically fitted out with a bathroom at one end, a double bed at the other and a large open plan kitchen/ sitting area in the centre. The Circus wagon is built on a 8 x 3.0 metre chassis, typically fitted out as above but with more space.
Based on a traditional French caravan, La Roulotte (pronounced roo-lot) is a popular size. One thing we recognised when we designed the Roulotte was that in Britain, it does rain! Which is why we built a generous sized balcony and fitted a large pair of French doors. So even when the weathers not very favourable you can still relax, eat outside and enjoy the views.
Inside the oak flooring and painted t&g walls create a clean and bright living space with a timeless appeal. The gently curved roof adds a comfortable head room and a feeling of space. Double glazed windows with larch shutters and a further half glazed door at the front let in plenty of light and brings the outside in.
We work with you to design the perfect layout and provide a 3D cad drawing to help you visualise the final design before entering production. Choose your own interior fittings such as lights, taps and door knobs or use our standard range. Soft furnishings and curtains can be supplied by us (limited range) or you can provide your own.
