As well as each having over twenty years experience of teaching, listening, collaborating, writing, lecturing and practicing architecture. We also have the experience of being clients, having designed and built our own home and studio - The Ramp House. Thea's design considers how spaces can improve people's lives.
We are client focused and place a high value on individual needs and personal attention. We specialise in bespoke new build homes, conversions and alterations of domestic premises and workspaces. We offer a comprehensive service from feasibility through to completion. We include the whole family in the design process to ensure that the built result is supportive of their everyday lives.
The principle of the ramp house was to design and build a family home for a little girl who is a wheelchair user, where the whole house enables her to lead a barrier free included life. We are often confronted with the physical barriers that the built environment presents; in our own home we were able to design a fully inclusive place; using a ramp to access all levels, provides an equality of space to us all.
The design process gave us the opportunity to work through the whole family's needs, thinking about how we wanted to live, and what spaces we needed to do this. When we knew that Greta would need an adapted environment to support her everyday life, it seemed to be one of the most obvious things that we could do for her.
