The sloping aspect of the site was addressed by installing raised beds. This levelled the ground where more planting beds gave shape, and an additional layer of interest. The wall of the garage was trellised with a stainless steel wire grid; roses & scented climbers were trained against it. A pergola sat outside the patio doors framing the view of garden from the kitchen.
The client lives in the upper floor of the colonies. She has a lovely garden space but one which required some modernisation to bring it back to life. The layout was to be reinvigorated, introducing curves. Patricia was particularly keen on geometric shapes. The design was built around a circular seating area positioned in the sunniest corner, benefiting from the enclosure of the house walls.
The client had an established garden which she sought to transform into a beautiful space with colour and year round interest. Chief aims were to introduce dynamism & create reasons to explore the whole of the garden - as well as nice places to sit and enjoy being outside. Jill was keen to have a path that ran all the way through the space.
The clients sought ideas to transform their existing paved area into a space to entertain and enjoy summer evenings. The design proposes two seating areas to capitalise on the sun in the morning and in the afternoon/evening. A circular seating area is dug into the corner of the curve of the lawn, creating a strong sense of enclosure.
The garden had fallen into neglect. The brief was to create a space to sit in & enjoy the flowers, as well as the discreet accommodation of 5 bins which needed to be kept in the front garden. The grass was removed and replaced with paving, providing a comfortable place to sit. Planting beds enclose the seating area and are filled with small shrubs and herbaceous perennials to create year long colour & interest.
