Barnes Construction was founded in 1978 and is the largest division within The Barnes Group Ltd. We are a medium sized business and one of the largest privately owned construction companies based within East Anglia. We operate predominately within the Eastern Region but also undertake projects on a national basis for a number of repeat business clients.

We undertake new build, extension and refurbishment type projects across a number of sectors including Education, Health, Leisure & Retail, Commercial & Industrial and Residential Developments. Our portfolio of completed construction projects ranges from 500k to 20 million in value.

About Us Report

As the construction division of The Barnes Group, we undertake a wide range of projects for clients both in the East of England and throughout the UK delivering projects to a high standard in the shortest timeframes, providing value for money and a good all round construction experience.

One of the factors that makes us different is our family ethos. Our people care about what they do, how they do it and how they are regarded by the people they value; clients, colleagues and supply chain partners alike. We believe in developing apprentices and management trainees. These programmes have run since 1978, producing over 60% of current staff, managers and directors.

History and Culture Report

Barnes Construction remains a family-run organisation. We not only have numerous clients where the relationship stretches back decades, but we also have an incredibly low staff turnover and a team that boasts many long standing employees. We believe in leadership by example. We assign a director to each client and project, strengthening teamwork and allowing quick decision making.

We have received numerous accolades from professional bodies including, the RICS, the RIBA and the SJCC. Our more recent craftsmanship and design awards relate to: the Pakefield High School (Phase 1), Lowestoft, Two Rivers Medical Centre, Ipswich, The Regent Theatre, Ipswich and the Arthur Rank Hospice, Cambridge.

BIM Building Information Modelling Report

With full Board approval, we have a BIM Policy and Action Plan fully supported by a comprehensive Implementation Programme. We have completed the NFB BIM Exemplar programme. Prepared a comprehensive BIM Action Plan supported by a full implementation programme with progress monitoring capability. Completed trial project to a BIM Level 2 standard on one of our Design & Construct Frameworks with our external consultant team.
