At the heart of the Big House is a vastly experienced team with the skill and flexibility to deliver a product that exceeds the expectations of our clients. After a brief time studying and working in the Civil Engineering sector Stuart Nairn moved into the Event and Theatre industry, where he has worked for over 22 years.
At the start of his career, Stuart toured live events as a Stage and Production Manager to venues across Scotland; the UK and abroad, specialising in small-mid scale theatre. It was while touring, shoe-horning sets into venues and adjusting things to fit, that Stuart realised that set building was to become his future full-time occupation.
In 2003 he co-founded Big House Events, specialising in building scenery, and in 2013 became the sole Director of the company. JJ has worked with BHE since graduating in 2007. In 2015 he joined the BHE Team full time as a Carpenter and Project Manager.

Our specially constructed paint floor means all our painting and finishes are done in house. The imagination is the limit when considering colours, patterns, textures, vinyls - even projection. Our finishing team work closely with the Creative Director to ensure the clients vision is realised. Big House Events are the easiest of companies to work with.
Our touring sets are usually built with metal frames. They can be clad in the same materials as the traditional wooden flats and finished in exactly the same way, but they are resilient and often lighter than a timber construction. Trucks, large flats, flown pieces and elements that require a degree of structural integrity are all begun in metal.
