Having grown up in a small village in the west coast of Scotland I started my career in the construction industry in 1988. I started as a labourer for a small building company, a year and a half later I started my apprenticeship as a bricklayer and attended Inverness college where I was selected to compete in the Scottish bricklaying championships.
Having worked on the west coast for a number of years I decided to move to Inverness with my now wife Mairi. Employed by a large company for a number of years I asked to go on to "piece work". Still working for them I employed my first apprentice (who won top bricklayer in Inverness College).
From there I started Martin Matheson Builders in 1999 doing more private work and started building my reputation as an honest reliable builder with an eye for design.Matheson Builders is an established local building company based near Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland. We have worked on everything from a simple garage constuction, through some highly designed extensions.

Services
I was introduced to Matheson Builders by my Architect Douglas Stuart of Inverness, my project was to turn a 17th century church on the black isle into a contemporary 5 bedroom home, a challenge in itself from the local council, heritage Scotland, bats in the belfry, you need a licence and a bat box! not to mention builders Matheson Builders took personal ownership and pride.
