Services
Julie Maclean trained in Interior Design (1999-2001) following a career in international marketing, which involved travelling extensively and living abroad. Her overseas experiences have considerably influenced and enhanced her work as a designer. She has run a successful interior design consultancy for more than 15 years, undertaking a wide variety of residential projects.
Julie Maclean has a diverse portfolio of work, from ultra-modern to authentic period restoration. Recent projects include the refurbishment and renovation of large country houses; completion of newly-built detached houses; extensions and alterations to mid-century modern, contemporary and older homes.
The Brief: To create a stimulating, sumptuous and stylish dining room; sufficiently elegant to be in keeping with the classic style of this period house, yet interesting, eclectic and rather fun too. Work Completed: Our clients are keen art collectors with some beautiful pieces from South East Asia, including a large jade bust, which provided the inspiration for both the colour scheme and the oriental influences.
The Brief: To link two interconnecting rooms to create a fun but smart and practical family room which can also used for casual entertaining. Work Completed: Our first suggestion was to replace the existing rear window with French doors which opened up the lovely view into the garden and also provided an additional point of access to the garden terrace.
