Mackay Stone
Chatelherault, a former hunting lodge on the Hunting Estate in Lanarkshire, is now the centrepiece of one of Scotland's most popular country parks. As sub-contractors we carried out extensive stone restoration works on this Grade A listed building within a major renovation programme. This stylish City Centre hotel consists of a group of late-Victorian buildings, which had been unsuccessfully linostoned some years ago.

Our contract included stone cleaning and full restoration works to the sandstone facade. Over the winter of 2002 we we carried out stone restoration works on both gate houses at the Loch Lomond Golf Club. Cut from stone left by the Colquhoun estate the original gate houses required new arches cut as well as extensive cleaning.

There's still a place for time-honoured craftmanship on the modern construction site. Here one of our masons is building new sandstone quoins and square snecked rubble infill to match the existing walling of a Grade A listed property. Brand New Aerial Services division - using unmanned multi-rotar devices we provide safe, quick and low cost inspections of roofs, church spires and all high structures.
Services
Mackay's is a multi-service construction company, specialising in stone work restoration and building maintenance and repairs. The business was established in 1938 by James Mackay, a steeplejack who learned his trade during Scotland's heavy industrial heyday. Of course, nowadays steeplejacks are as likely to be asked to fell a chimney as to maintain it.
The Use of multi rotors for these services is a safer and efficient cost cutting tool of taking aerial shots. Friendly, hard working stone masons who made the experience so easy and stress free. We are delighted with the results of the restoration of our property and would have no hesitation in recommending MacKay Stone to anyone looking for quality workmanship.
The traditional skills of the steeplejack have been used since the dawn of the industrial revolution to construct, maintain and demolish industrial brick chimneys. In today's modern construction environment, the traditional skills of the steeplejack have evolved into a highly technical industry capable of delivering innovative solutions for all working at height projects.
We are first class stonemasons based in Glasgow. We carry out all manner of stonemasonry repairs and stone building work. Examples include rebuilding stone and brick walls, lime pointing of masonry and brick walls, stone repairs or rebuilding of chimneys, vehicle collision damage to walls. Other services include sandstone supply, dressing and carving, replacement of weather damaged stones of any shape or form.
Our project list covers major commercial and industrial projects throughout the west of Scotland, including churches, hospitals, factories and power stations as well as office blocks and retail premises. Clients range from local authority managers and architects to private sector businesses of every description.

Ronnie and his team spent around 5 weeks working on the rear elevation of our 3 storey sandstone Victorian house, which had suffered from decades of patching up and poor quality repairs by non-specialists. We wanted to have the job done properly and permanently, and I knew from the first visit Ronnie made to assess the work needed that his… experience and careful approach were just what we were looking for. The team were very approachable, professional and hard working throughout the time they were on site, and were always keen to share what they were working on and explain why it was needed
