I'm David, The Dorset Hutmaker, and I've been passionate about craftsmanship since my teens, studying design and carpentry, and focusing on traditional shepherds' hut construction. I love shepherds' huts; their design, their functionality, their history and their presence, and I've spent years learning how to build them using the best of traditional and modern techniques.

We have been building bespoke huts for a number of years and in that time developed a real passion for these wonderfully versatile spaces which we build in a range of different sizes.
We want to create a hut for you that's both distinctive and individual, something unique that meets your needs and reflects your tastes. We also believe that the design process should be straightforward and easy to understand. First, you choose either The Dorset Shepherd's Hut or The Dorset Bothy Hut as the basis for your design.
All of our hand-crafted furniture is made from a wide range of timber species. We use UK grown, locally sourced, or reclaimed timber wherever possible to minimise our environmental impact and support other local artisans. Each piece of furniture is custom made so every customer gets the look and feel they desire.
