Lewis Critchley Architects
From period conversions to contemporary new builds and extensions, we're known for open, light-filled spaces, rich materiality, precise detailing and a strong connection between inside and outside living. We can manage each stage of a project in-house with the support of a network of skilled craftsmen and specialists.

The brief was to take a group of farm buildings - including unsympathetically converted and extended barns, plus structures not touched since their agricultural days - and turn them into a cohesive dwelling fit for a family. Original features to be embraced in the existing barn conversion, but the addition of a glazed link brings the separate buildings together to form one home.

We create beautifully crafted extensions that are a fusion of traditional and contemporary design that carefully blend the transition between interior and exterior spaces. The refurbishment retains much of the buildings original features while enhancing its existing vernacular, by creating large open plan well-lit contemporary spaces.
Services
Many people find the architectural process daunting or convoluted, yet it doesn't need to be. The RIBA Plan of Work 2020 provides an industry-recognised, step-by-step guide for all those involved in the briefing, designing and constructing of architectural buildings. We have incorporated the RIBA Plan of Work into our own 4-step process for all our projects - see it in full, below.
Lewis Critchley is an RIBA Chartered Architect, committed to creating bespoke, contemporary, well crafted architecture which is inspired by its context and informed by the clients brief. Prior to establishing the practice in 2019 Lewis was a design and project Architect with Riach Architects, Scott Brownrigg, Glenn Howells, BDP, Aedas and GSSArchitecture, working on projects within the residential, commercial and education sectors.
As Architects we work in collaboration with other Designers, Architects, Landscape Architects, Planners, Interior Designers, Structural Engineers and other consultants as part of the wider design team. The creation of quality architecture demands a collaborative process. We work in partnership with our clients, the design team and the construction team; placing an emphasis on dialogue and communication.
Not any architect, preferably me! I could bore you with the seven years of studying, the fact we hold professional indemnity insurance or how as chartered architects we provide a client centred service, value for money and excellent design skills. You can select all or part of our services and our fees will be worked out depending on your requirements.
