Based in London for more than 20 years, we specialise in high quality, beautiful, vegetable dyed, hand knotted and hand woven rugs made by Afghan Artisans, as well as beautiful Persian, Indian and Pakistan rugs. Unlike other Rug Traders our company make and import the rugs from Afghanistan. They are collected from our rug weavers all across Northern Afghanistan.
When we talk of ''Traditional'' in this context, we refer not only to the process of hand-spun woollen or silk yarns, which are traditionally dip dyed before the weavers hand-knot and hand-weave the rugs, but of the types of patterns and colour combinations. Even in the twenty-first century, this age old craft continues.
Kazak rugs are hand-knotted oriental rugs are used not only for floor covering but also for wall hangings. Kazak rugs intensify the space decor and interior well with their enchanting patterns and design. These rugs suit both contemporary and traditional home Style rugs. Kazak rugs are said to be status.
When we talk of ''Modern'' in this context, we refer to the appearance not the construction process. There is no difference in the actual making process of a Modern rug to that of a Traditional rug. The wool from flocks of sheep local to the weaver's homes and workshops is hand-spun and then traditionally dip dyed before the weaver hand-knots and hand-weaves the rug.
A range of different types of Kilim (Kelim) are made. These variations depend very much on the area or tribe making them. Becoming familiar with the different weaving techniques aids the ability to determine the authenticity of each different type. Masoud and his colleague were amazingly helpful in helping us choose a rug for our living room. I cannot recommend The Rug Centre enough. Whilst our budget was relatively small, we were able to find a perfect-size and colour rug from the hundreds of rugs (hand-woven and machine-woven) that Masoud has in his collection. Initially, we took home a rug which we found was too small and Masoud was able to find a larger rug with perfect colour combination - he sent photos over whatsapp and dropped the rug home as we live relatively close to The Rug Centre. The owner is a very welcoming and friendly person he makes you feel like you've been friends for years. Very nice environment and great quality rugs at great prices.

We are delighted with the rugs and the service from the Rug Centre. Mahmoud brought a range of rugs for us to try in our house and offered really helpful advice about style/colour/size of rugs. There is a great range of styles and colours - traditional and contemporary - the quality is excellent. The home trial gives real peace of mind about choice as nothing beats seeing the rug in the room and there was no pressure from Mahmoud to buy - just a thoughtful consideration about what would work best for us.

The beautiful bespoke rugs now sitting in my apartment in Hong Kong are a result of my email and WhatsApp correspondence with the owner Masoud. I sent him the dimensions and look and feel of the rugs I had in mind, and he took it from there. After finalising all the details, Masoud sent me periodic updates with photos of the work in progress. Even without meeting in person, he understood what I wanted perfectly. A little gem tucked away in a safestore warehouse at the moment, as they have had to relocate from Wembley recently, while looking for a more permanent showroom for their very extensive and excellent range of rugs. Persian, afghan, wool, synthetic etc, you name it and they have it! Masoud and his assistant were very helpful in showing us their entire range and even allowed us to take photos etc. They even kept our shortlisted rugs separate from the rest, so that we could come back and pick up the ones that we wanted, after we had made our minds up! Would definitely recommend them to anyone looking

Found this place randomly online and I’m glad I did because I had a great experience with them. The owner was really helpful in helping us pick our rugs for our new home. At the store, he was really helpful and was very knowledgable and patient with us. Also very friendly. We picked out a few different options and he bought the rugs to our house so we could see what they would look like in the rooms. Whilst at the house, again he was very professional and did not put any pressure on us. Eventually we picked one really beautiful rug for our living room. I would definitely buy from them again.
