Services
Chris Battye BSc (Hons) FRICS qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1983 and has over 35 years residential survey and valuation experience in the East Midlands property market. With James he established Shire Surveyors in 2013. James and Chris established Shire Surveyors in 2013 to provide a personal service which would enable clients to benefit from their wealth of experience in the Leicestershire and wider East Midlands property market.
Choose the right RICS survey to highlight any serious problems and advise you of the specific risks before you commit to the process of buying or selling a property. If you are buying a home one of our RICS approved surveys will tell you the condition of the property, help you avoid expensive surprises after you've moved in and could be invaluable during price negotiations.
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) surveys help you to compare at a glance those matters that need early attention with those that do not currently need repair by giving Condition Ratings 1, 2 and 3 in a "traffic light format". RICS reports are user-friendly and there are three to choose from depending on your needs: RICS HomeBuyer Survey and Valuation, RICS Building Survey and RICS Condition Report.
A Market Valuation conducted for you is different from the mortgage valuation your lender will normally commission if you are taking out a mortgage. Please remember, a valuation is not a condition survey. Help to Buy: If you purchased your home using the government Help to Buy Scheme and are looking to sell, repay or remortgage your home you will require an RICS valuation.
We can provide an up to date rebuilding valuation to ensure you are not under or over-insured. The calculation uses up to date cost information from the RICS and takes into account demolition and rebuilding costs, and professional fees. The figure does not include the land and must not be confused with a market valuation.

I would definitely recommend Shire Surveyors to anyone. I needed an independent valuation to be released from a help to buy loan - they are able to undertake the survey in around two weeks, at a date and time that suited me, for less than I was expecting to pay.
Sam was very punctual and considerate (in that we both wore masks) during the entire survey. The report was extremely detailed but not so technical that a layman couldn't understand it and should be exactly what the homes and communities agency want me to provide.

I would highly recommend Shire Surveyors! I really didn't know where to start when looking for a Surveyor, but after finding Shires on the RICS website and contacting the team, I was immediately reassured that they were going to be brilliant and they were. They were highly responsive and friendly, they got our survey arranged quickly and the standard of the report we received was very detailed and useful! They even supported me with some follow up queries. Thanks to all the team!

I would highly recommend Shire Surveyors. They were able to undertake the survey 2 weeks after I contacted them when all other companies I contacted said it would be a minimum of 1 month before an appointment could be made. They provided a very detailed and helpful report the day after the survey took place. This report was easy to understand and identified several issues that I was not aware of. I will be using them again.

I contacted Tom (Surveyor) then booked in with Charolette a suitable time to conduct a level 3 survey for a residential property that I was looking at buying. Before the survey was carried out I had prompt and clear communication with Charlotte around the few questions I had prior to the survey. The survey pack was very detailed and with detailed pictures of the property inside and out. I then had an offer from Tom to book in time to discuss the survey with him which I did, and from this I now have a clear understanding of the critical issues that I need to address which has given me confidence

We were recommended Shire Surveyors by our local surveyor who was too busy to do a Level 3 survey on our old house. They responded promptly, were friendly, very efficient and produced a thorough, easy to follow and comprehensive survey that is really going to help us plan the renovation work we need to do. They also turned up when they said they would, both the surveyor and the back office staff were polite and friendly, and they produced the survey in just a few days after their visit.
Level 3 surveys aren't cheap but we really think we've had great value for money from Shire and the work they
