It all began when Neil Peskett bought a pair of salvaged oak lock gates, thinking that someone 'out there' would surely want to use the still-sound timber for a project. He was right! It quickly became apparent that there was a lack of high quality reclaimed oak available in the UK. And so it was that Traditional Oak and Timber Company (Trad Oak) was established in 1990.

Wanted a small Oak beam to use as a mantelpiece sent required size and requirements.Because of Christmas holiday we had to wait a while but this was not a problem.When beam was ready I was sent an email with a picture. As we couldn’t decide if beam was exactly what we wanted decided to visit yard. Bit difficult to find next door to Bluebell Railway end of road on industrial estate. When we found office and our beam decided it was not exactly what we wanted so chose another piece of wood which they finished while we were onsite. As ours was a small order we were very impressed that they took the

We had a faultless experience with the Traditional Oak and Timber Company from the minute we entered the site office until our beam was installed. Grant and Victoria were a pleasure to deal with. Grant produced a really beautiful beam exactly to our bespoke requirements. We phoned Victoria to change the original measurements to enlarge the face of the beam which was not a problem. When it arrived we were thrilled to bits. It looks fantastic.
