I always recommend a Universal Strap / Jubilee clipped cowl as a more secure option then the push in type cowl.
Please note that the cowl above is suitable for gas and looks very similar to a multifuel cowl which has a square hole mesh. I have a difficult to clean wood fireplace flue ( it has a built in heatalator) making it difficult to clean (original fireplace built in 1984). And I routinely had significant creosote buildup. Other chimney sweep companies attempted to clean it - with less than desired results. Several years ago I started using American Chimney to clean my flue - using a roto clean technology (think weed whacker) - which works well.
