Jim Sharples grew up in rural Cumbria before moving to the West Country in 2000. He studied woodwork for three years at City of Bristol college and has gone on to produce some stunning work, including the 2.5 tonne lockgate benches on Bristol's harbourside and cabinets for Jamie's Italian. Furniture making is his passion, something that shines through every piece he creates.
We can create anything from a single cupboard to a luxury solid wood kitchen. Every commission is approached in the same way, applying high standards to create beautiful work at an affordable price. You get a truly bespoke service and we won't restrict you on size or colour, choice of material or accessories.
The kitchen is the heart of a home; a room where you not only prepare food but catch up over drinks and nibbles, discuss work and complete homework and bond as friends and family. Bedrooms are a sanctuary, not seen by many but needing to provide a warm, safe and welcoming space in which to begin and end the day. We've enhanced our clients' bedrooms with handcrafted furniture including fitted and freestanding wardrobes, beautiful beds, bedside tables, dressing tables and chests of drawers.

This is the third room transformation Jim and Jo completed in our 200+year old cottage. The workmanship is superb and we were kept informed of progress throughout the design and build process through to installation. Not the cheapest, but you won’t regret it - well worth the investment . Cannot recommend Jim Sharples Furniture highly enough (5+ stars easily).

Jim helped us design, and then he built, a beautiful bespoke dining room table.

We got just what we wanted! Arriving at a design we loved for our under-stairs storage was helped enormously by the very professional drawings Jim had drawn up as we refined the idea. Everything happened when Jim said it would and the result is great! When we started using it, we realised we wanted a couple of internal shelves, which Jim then added. Really really pleased!

From start to finish the whole experience was fantastic and the end result was more than I could have hoped for! Jim has recently made us some more custom made cabinets for our study after designing and making some for us 7 years previously. From the first (re) contact the service from Jim (and Jo) has been first class. During the delays of lockdown in 2020, we were always kept informed regularly of timescales despite circumstances being out of Jim’s hands!

Just wanted to say how absolutely thrilled we are with our new shelving project. We have spent the last half an hour just gazing at it and planning what is going to go where. We have never seen or owned anything on this scale before in terms of quality and workmanship. I am sure we don't need to tell you this but it really is beautifully crafted and visually stunning. We are excited to arrange our books and special pieces but are going to take our time and enjoy it. Thank you to Jo for sorting things out for us also and linking everything up.

So pleased with the new fitted unit and shelves. Very professional service, with plenty of advice and guidance. The consultation process was thorough with samples of materials to choose between, exchange of ideas and clear plans/graphics. The pieces were finished and fitted on schedule, and without any mess.
