Services
Smallwood Architects was founded by Christopher Smallwood in 1976 to provide a very personal service to clients in delivering to them beautiful buildings of the highest quality. Initial commissions came entirely through word of mouth, but in the intervening years we have grown and achieved a reputation for delivering high quality traditional and contemporary design throughout the UK, Europe, the US and beyond.
We are a diverse group of people, of several nationalities, all sharing the design and work values established by Christopher Smallwood in 1976. A mix of experienced architects, technologists and assistants, we are a Chartered RIBA practice with a metropolitan outlook on creative design of the highest quality.
Our approach to historic buildings is informed, conservative and respectful, but also creative and imaginative and where appropriate, contemporary. We strongly hold that the best future for old buildings is to make them comfortable and truly relevant to the way we want to live now. We have achieved significant successes through complex planning negotiations with important Listed buildings.
