Hancock & Read have provided a prestigious design & making service exceeding over 30 years now and are renowned around Dore, Whirlow, Hope Valley and other areas of South Yorkshire & Derbyshire for our quality commercial and residential furniture. Founded in 1985 we originally catered for the commercial sector handcrafting and fitting bars, reception desks and specialist shop interiors.
We soon realised our potential to create beautiful fitted furniture for the home and as the demands for kitchens and bedrooms grew - so did our workshop which now accommodates a design studio. Our policy for delivering customer satisfaction is clearly appreciated as the majority of our projects arise from repeat custom or recommendation.

We specialise in both free standing and fitted handmade furniture that is of superior quality. We are widely appreciated for our skill at handcrafting quality 'In Frame' & 'Faced Fixed' Shaker style furniture that is constructed in the traditional way (by mortise & tenon). Every project is a 'one off' as everything is made to suit your taste. With a wide range of woods, colours, door fronts, work tops and handles to choose from - your space can be truly unique.
Please forgive me for not writing earlier to say how delighted Sally and I are with both our kitchen and office furniture. It doesn't seem possible that we started the process some 18 months ago when we paced around the shell of what was to become our new kitchen. From the very beginning you guided us through the design process with your honest, innovative and passionate style.

We've just had our kitchen completed and we are absolutely over the moon with it. Lee, Nick and the team offered great advice throughout the project and the communication was excellent. The quality of work and attention to detail is amazing. I highly recommend Hancock and Read and will be using them again.

We were looking for a bespoke kitchen and were recommended to Hancock & Read by a friend. I have to say that we were totally satisfied with the result. Their design incorporated all the features we had asked for - and many others that we should have asked for!
The kitchen was built completely in their workshop to check everything fitted - and then it was installed in our kitchen. The process was faultless and their attention to detail was amazing.
Since then we have used Hancock & Read to install a new dressing room & bathroom and a Home Office (including bespoke cupboards and filing drawers
