Services
Our founder Mr Harry Ponsford started the company in 1893, originally selling goods from a wheelbarrow. By the 1930's the business was flourishing and moved to its location on London Road, Sheffield - the premise we still occupy today. We maintain the same principles today for quality of product and service that were promoted by Harry in the late 19th century.
At Ponsford we have a stunning selection of fine furniture, furnishings and flooring displayed over six floors in our 60,000 sq ft store. Located at 577-609 London Road, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S2 4HS for over 125 years, we like to think we've got the best selection of furniture in the north of England.
Take the A61 Chesterfield out of Sheffield heading south for approximately 4 miles. Take the B6057 Sheffield Road exit signed Dronfield at the roundabout and follow this road to the bottom of the hill. Turn right at the lights over the railway bridge onto Wreakes Lane. Follow this road for 600 yards, the warehouse is on the left hand side before the Sainsburys Superstore.
The Ponsford Showroom is located on London Road, Sheffield. Our wonderful 60,000 square foot emporium houses over 30,000 pieces of furniture, accessories, carpets and rugs - as well as our Meeting Point serving coffee and cake, the perfect place to refuel and have a chat. Ponsfords have always been fantastic when we've ordered furniture from them over the last few years.
The customer service, choice and quality of the furniture is the reason we keep going back time and again.
We've never had carpets from there until this year when we moved house.
We chose the same carpet through the whole of the upstairs and the stairs themselves.
Because we were having the stairs & landing decorated we had to delay the fitting until today. However Ponsfords ordered the carpet all together (so we had the same batch), fitted all the bedrooms in July then came back today (4 months

So where do we start? Having previously made the mistake of buying a carpet from a well known chain and it having to be removed as damaged, we decided to have a look at Ponsford. We have previously bought bedroom furniture and were really impressed with the good old fashioned customer service. The selection of carpets was very good and the sales person took the time and effort to advise around the best type of carpet for our stairs. We finally chose a Brinton carpet which is now laid and looks really nice. The fitters were respectful of our home and very pleasant. In fact, an excellent job of fitting

The furniture shop gets 5 stars without doubt as its lovely to walk around, the staff are attentive without being pushy. Ignore the cafe though as they've stopped doing sandwiches and when we visited, our coffee took about 20 minutes to arrive, without exaggeration. I think there was a new lady on the machine which is fine but no additional staff to help during the busy periods.

Wow! What a place this is! I called here on a Saturday as I was looking for a new dining table and chairs. To say I was spoilt for choice is an understatement! The range of furniture on display here is simply incredible.
As one might expect, some of the furniture is pricey - very pricey! 10k for a dining table anyone?! This aside, there are also selections available for more modestly sized budgets, and it was actually quite fun guessing the price of some items and being surprised when they weren't as expensive as you thought they might be.
