We are a small independent practice of Chartered Surveyors specialising in Building Surveying but with general experience in many aspects of surveying with particular reference to Historic Building Construction. Our aim is to provide a friendly and personal small practice service but with the professionalism and expertise that is often only associated with larger more expensive practices.
The practice is a fully recognised member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and is covered and bound by its Code of Conduct and Regulations. As part of this, the practice is covered by the mandatory Professional Indemnity Insurance and has a Complaints Handling Procedure, details of either can be viewed on request.

Services
We only do Building Surveys (often referred to as a Full Structural Survey) as we feel these are the best form of report to convey the condition of a property and the recommended repairs to our clients. Other lesser comprehensive report forms such as the RICS Homebuyer, restrict the surveyor to reporting only on the condition and making recommendations for further investigations.
Many property owners today are looking to retain and maintain the original character and features of their property, the condition of which is often put at risk by poor and inappropriate repairs and improvements. Just because the property is old or not listed does not stop you carrying out repairs sympathetically, which is more beneficial to the building and less likely create a knock on effect of further issues or damage.
When people think of Historic Buildings they naturally assume that these are Listed Buildings. However there are countless older properties which, whilst not noted as significant to warrant listing by Historic England (previously English Heritage), are still worthy of maintaining in a traditional manner and using traditional methods to retain the original character and features.
People often have problems with their buildings whether they are residential or commercial properties, for example roof leaks, cracking and subsidence, which they are unsure how best to deal with and are wary of approaching a building contractor who may not have the expertise to identify and rectify the problem.
One of our main areas of operation is in residential refurbishment and alteration. This extends from simple single storey extensions to full refurbishment and alteration of large residential properties and flat conversions. We offer services from drafting of existing and proposed plans for planning submissions to Local Authorities to full design and procurement services from project conception to agreement of contractor's final account.
