J A P Architects
First established in 1965 J.A.P Architects are a chartered partnership registered with the RIBA and the Architects' Registration Board. We are based at Clare, a rural village situated in Suffolk, close to the borders Essex and Cambridgeshire. We practice as Architects and Development Consultants undertaking projects across a broad spectrum of building & urban design, town planning and rural development.
Services
New houses and extensions for private clients are very personal projects and require a complete and clear understanding of what the client is seeking to achieve. The design brief should explore not only the physical space requirements but also the way in which clients 'use' their home.
Residential Developments must be profitable and make best use of available land. They should also be sustainable and carefully designed to comply with ever-more onerous planning controls on density, servicing, visual appropriateness and affordable housing etc. At J.A.P we normally commence these projects with a detailed feasibility study based on a thorough analysis of the site and other constraints.
Commercial projects are procured either speculatively (for a developer) or under direct appointment to the end user. J.A.P can provide extensive architectural and planning services, on most types of commercial project, via either a conventional architect's appointment or working with/for a building contractor on a Design & Build basis.
It is now a statutory requirement on large development sites for a detailed Master Plan to be prepared for consultation prior to commencing detailed building designs and submitting applications. Working often in tandem with Planning Consultants and other third party specialists J.A.P can produce highly detailed and visually stimulating Master Plan layouts for residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
Conservation Area and Listed Building projects present challenges beyond normal planning limitations and in recent years policies have become yet more demanding. The protected and historic status associated with some sites necessitates additional care when formulating development proposals, whether for listed building extensions or new developments.
