This is the most authentic Italian I have visited outside of Italy & I have been eating in Italian restaurants for the last 40 years, you must experience it

Very pleasant and helpful staff, though somewhat run off their feet, they more than fulfilled expectations. The interior is very cool, calm and modernistic with fairly small (and, in our case, wobbly) tables. It could easily have been an Italian restaurant in York or Harrogate. The wine list was wide enough and fairly priced; the bottle of Trebbiano was much appreciated. In terms of the menu, for a vegetarian and pescatarian, the choices were limited. The “special” dishes did not add to our options. When we ordered, pasta offered the best choices. The starter of ravioli was delicately constructed

A wonderful restaurant, my favourite dish is the pan-fried calves liver with butter and sage. The selection of wines are excellent and the panacotta is wonderful. We really enjoy our visits to Canonbury Kitchen and like on so many occasions and Max and the staff have always made us feel comfortable and never let us down, especially on the food! Thank you.

Max and the team at Canonbury Kitchen provide an authentic and absolutely delicious Italian dining experience. The staff are incredibly warm and personable. You don't feel as though you're being rushed in and out, and can truly enjoy your meal. Highly recommend the housemade pasta and the baked aubergine or steak. They also have tasty rotating specials which are always worth a try. (Make sure you leave room for the chocolate mousse cake)! Max has also curated a brilliant wine list with the Puglia Primitivo being a favourite of ours. We've been to Max's for both date night and large family meals

Cute little Italian spot off the main road. The food here is tasty- we had the fried calamari, shrimp and anchovies, and I had the mushroom truffle pasta and he had the ragu. We finished with tiramisu as usual! This seems like more of a nice date spot. For Italian, it was really tasty but definitely on the higher end for price. The service was really slow the night we went in, but it was one gentleman and lady running the whole show! They were both extremely friendly so we didn't mind. My only suggestion would be less anchovies, ha. I hate those guys and they were over half the dish.. overall

Quaint, rustic vibes. Food is delicious. Start with some calamari or black ink ravioli, move on to a main course of guinea fowl breast or spaghetti with tiger prawns. Perfect place for a date or special occasion celebration. Owners are super nice and seem to know everyone who comes through the doors.

Far down upper street away from the bustle of the bars full of people is The Canonbury Kitchen not the most likely selection as it's barely noticeable from the main road. It is well priced with has become my favourite in the area. The food is fantastic. from a lovely selection of pastas (including homemade ravioli) to a succulent sea bass and great honey glazed guinea fowl.
The staff are not just good at their job, they are pleasant, kind and have a good sense of humour. All of this is a bonus to the well designed menu. Very tasty, it's worth going with a few people and getting as many dishes

This restaurant is okay, but not great. I loved the airy and bright atmosphere, but was disappointed by the food. We did the 2 course special for £11.75. My hubby chose the calamari and the penne with ragu, while I chose the soup of the day and the lasagna. All of our dishes were fine, but nothing special.

I really wanted to love this place, but left feeling underwhelmed. I'm not sure I'll be back, just because there are many other italian restaurants in Islington that I'd like to try before trying this one again.

Cute dinner spot right off Upper St where we were able to get a last minute reservation on a Saturday night. The wine list is almost all Italian, out of which we got a great bottle of Pinot Grigio. The menu has some interesting options like chickpea pasta, but I was torn between the sea bass and the pheasant breast and the server was not very helpful in terms of providing a recommendation ("They're very different.") I ended up going with the pheasant breast and it was ok, a bit overcooked, and tasted more like chicken then gamey. We ordered sides as well; the courgette fritters were

A solid (not revelationary) brunch choice if you are looking to mix up the usual gambit of the full English or fresh toast with some well-executed pasta or a tasty Italian grill. The open bright interior invites you in from the sidewalk, and after sitting down, you are met with a simple, Italian-focused menu.

The food felt a bit hit or miss. My salad was mediocre (argula leaves did not seem particularly fresh), but the venison ragu on my penne was excellent. Meanwhile, service did not stand out, but was above average. I never really felt as if we were really being taken care of, but if I needed

A very decent new Italian in Islington - a short menu of simple but authentic dishes. Excellent fritto misto, tagliata etc. Very good wines by the glass, too. Quite lively on our visit and lighting was dimmed at one point....

A local eaterie shielded from the hustle of Upper Street. Decent rustic Italian fare in a stylish but overly brightly-lit room. A little quiet on our visit. Might need to up its game if it's to be a real contender in this busy area.
