Penetrating damp usually happens when there is a default in part of the building. This could be a hole in the roof, a broken gutter or just a badly fitted window or door. Sometimes it could be that the building bricks are very porous allowing the water to soak in like a sponge. We can stop penetrating damp and hygroscopic salts (refer to rising damp).

Booked in to assess the damp on a property we were purchasing - they did not turn up and we were not even given a call, so our estate agent was waiting at the property. We called and they had obviously forgot - they went that evening later on.
Called the next day and said to send my email address via text for the assessment information - never received anything.

Writing this review as the surveyor failed to turn up not once but twice after I gave them another chance. Both times no contact was made to let us know and when I called the first time an hour after our agreed time I was just told that he didn't have time? No problem but a call or a text would have be appropriate. I would recommend staying away from this company to avoid wasting your time. Reading the reviews it seems that they've done this to others too.

I used this company for a damp proof course, and I was very pleased with the work they carried out. I needed the work doing quickly and Jimmy accommodated this with only a few days notice. The work was carried out to a high standard, the plasterwork was excellent and had a good, smooth finish, and they left the house very clean and tidy afterwards.
Overall a pleasing result, and I would definitely recommend this company again.

My partner arranged a visit from advance damp proofing to come out and look at our damp issue, initially contact was ok to confirm whether they would be attending but on the day they should have been attending there was no contact from them and no reply to telephone calls or emails which has now left us in a position of trying to find another contractor to come out and quote us at very short notice as we was relying on them!! i find this very unprofessional and a simple telephone call would have been suffice. particularly annoying as my partner booked a day off work especially!!!
