Gill is our Managing Director. Aside from holding over 30 years' experience in the damp proofing trade, she is also the founding member of Garratt's Damp and Timber. Gill is an expert when it comes to surveying - she covers everything from condensation to rising dampness, specialising in insects and wood rot.
Garratt's Damp & Timber offer a completely free damp survey in London and the home counties. It's our goal to offer the most complete free damp surveys that cover all potential issues or concerns and to achieve this, we ensure that we work around you, organising an appointment based on the times when you're free.
Condensation is the result of evaporated water called water vapour (or moisture), coming into contact with a cold surface. Within our homes, condensation issues are accentuated because when we go about daily tasks like showering, cooking or drying clothes, water vapour is released into the air. As more water vapour enters the air, it becomes increasingly saturated with moisture until it can no longer hold any more.

I would just like to thank all the team from start to finish, I was very impressed with the services Garratt's Damp & Timber Ltd provided during the contract. I had an issue with rising Damp and these guys were on the list at the top. Had a dry rot issue in the property and Garratt's came in and resolved everything. They assisted with queries on building insurance claims, dealing with the cause of the leak and quickly remedying the issue with a guarantee. Their price was fair (less than half of another, less reputable contractor) and the advice was professional.
In summary, they are a safe pair of hands - I would have no issues recommending their services in future.

Garratts did a great job and were really helpful and friendly. They provided a top class service and were very professional. Lee and Wayne in particular were very informative and ensured all of our questions were answered. I had to attend to a virtual funeral at the time of their works and they made sure all noise and works were stopped during that time. Lee in particular was very sensitive towards this and even sat outside whilst this took place for which I am grateful. Would def use them again.

This company is the absolute best. A leak from upstairs was causing a problem in our entryway. The Garratt's team quickly assessed the problem, came up with a sustainable solution, and fixed it all up. I think our Edwardian-era flat is now in the healthiest and best condition it has ever been in. They might not be the least expensive service but they did not oversell us. And they kept to their quoted price for replacing air bricks around our home, even though the job was tougher than initially anticipated. Thank you so much, Garratt's!

An exceptionally positive experience from start to finish! From the moment I made the call; the lady I spoke with was most helpful, friendly and efficient. I needed a damp survey done at the property I was purchasing so Garratt's arranged this directly with the estate agents, on my behalf. Ian carried out the survey and was also a pleasure to communicate with; he called me en route to the property and asked whether I had any specific things I'd like him to investigate and also assured me of the work he would carry out. The survey was completed on the Friday, and I received the report on the Monday

Very professional. They came (on time) to inspect a damping issue, and when they found out that the cause was condensation and isolation problems, they explained that the best course of action for us was simply to keep the room heated, or we could also do isolation works around our windows.
I'm happy they didn't try to push for expensive unnecessary work. They did all this for free and refused compensation for what was supposed to be a quote but ended up being a consultation.
I would thus highly recommend them.

Garratt's Damp and Timber Ltd installed a Positive Pressure System approximately seven years ago to help control the condensation in my property. The installation has proved very beneficial and is still in good working order. They are a superior company and Ian went the extra mile in ensuring an excellent after care service.
