We repair stoves, fitting new fire bricks, glass, rope seals, fire cement seals, cutting and fitting access doors into stove pipes, striping and deep cleaning and re-blacking back to showroom condition. We also fabricate and fit register plates. We also provide a small engineering service to drill out and re-cut threads and weld small stove items that can often save hundreds of pounds replacing parts.

We cover a large urban and rural area encompassing Bristol, Bath, North/South Somerset and parts of Wales and Gloucestershire. We always aim to get to you when required but the earlier you book in the year and the more notice you give the easier it is to slot you in. We get very busy from September onward and there can often be a 4 week lead time.
There are occasions when you may need us either out of normal hours or ungently. A smoking fire ahead of a dinner party, birds/squirrels/rats stuck in the chimney or in the room are typical situations we deal with. We charge a transparent and realistic call out fee that is very competitive compared to other trades.
We get called to a large number of properties where people have just moved in and find a fireplace or stove fitted that they want to use but there is no history or safety documents and they don't know if it is safe to use. In addition, if you are changing the use of a fire (e.g. from gas to solid fuel) or reinstating an old fireplace then the same service applies; regulations state you must have the 3 stage flue check.

Bought two hand made (by Bruce) stainless steel cowls for my two crown pots. I found it very difficult to get someone to make these cowls at the standard I was looking for. I live in Chorley Lancs and gave Bruce the dimensions, he delivered on time, communications spot on and the quality and workmanship is excellent, fitted perfectly. I am sure this work ethic filters throughout all his work. Would highly recommend. Thanks Bruce!

I was very happy with Bruce and the quality of his work on my two chimneys. He was punctual, pleasant and clean. He gave me great help in how to replace my fire bricks whilst telling me what stove I actually had! I had the same sweep for a number of years before he retired and will be using Bruce going forward.

Best sweep offer an honest and thorough service, coupled with lovely customer service and a very professional attitude toward punctuality. Bruce has serviced our stove for many years, ever since we had it installed. He's always on time, makes a real effort to fit us in as immediately as possible, when is best for us. I really appreciate his frank honesty regarding what he sees of our stove and his assessment of what improvements we could make, be it the quality of fuel, need for additives, a fan or a thermometer, he tells it how it is.

I cannot recommend Bruce enough. I have just bought my first house, and have never had to use a chimney sweep before, and Bruce was a fountain of knowledge. He explained all of the issues with our chimney, and resolved them all in under an hour. He was punctual and polite, and on a personal level - a very interesting man. Ask him about his Ultra Running and get some tips on traveling Malta.

It isn't often that you get to meet service providers that are as professional, understanding and customer-oriented as Bruce.
Bruce came to sweep the chimney in the house we just moved into and in addition to his very clean job (you couldn't tell he came over to sweep the chimney) he gave me great recommendations to ensure my installation will be safe. In addition, Bruce took time to explain to me his work so that I could understand everything, and so that I could make the right choices in the future to ensure a safe use of our fireplace. I couldn't recommend him more.

We needed some extensive Chimney stack repair work on our roof. From the start Bruce’s service was excellent. He turned up at the time arranged with a whole bag of tools to properly diagnose our issues. The quotation he provided was thorough and clearly explained what services would be provided.
Bruce and his assistant did an excellent job, taking photos and keeping us updated throughout. Bruce was able to salvage one of the original chimney pots too which was nice to keep.
The work (now finished) looks fantastic and we are very happy with the service we received.

Bruce did an excellent job. Cleaned it really well, tested our alarm and made sure he left the room clean and tidy. Was running early so asked if it was ok to come earlier than our appointment time, which was brilliant for us and really considerate. Was really helpful and answered all the questions that I had. Feel happy with the service and that it is safe and in good condition. Will definitely be a regular!
