Scottish oak console table. The tight double curve of its sinuous design demanded some serious R&D to steam bend a relatively large piece of oak. Due to previous experience in steam bending Alasdair was commissioned by Bodan Design & Manufacture to build the piece for one of their clients. Scottish sycamore dining table in a contemporary Scandi style for a steading conversion in the Highlands of Scotland.

Made from a tree felled in the client's garden, the wood was air dried for more than a year, then kiln dried prior to commencing the project. The turned cylindrical legs contrast the more angular frame and sharper top. Traditional mortice and tenon joints are pegged with walnut dowels adding a further contrast in the light and dark woods.

The piece reflects both the modern and traditional within the client's home. American cherry low-slung storage cabinet. A previous client approached Alasdair to design and make a flexible storage system to complement their existing suite of furniture, which included a previously designed and made CD cabinet.
