Richard Pedlar Architects is an award winning practice in Bristol with specialist skills in conservation. We have a reputation for obtaining planning consents on sensitive sites particularly, in relation to Listed Buildings and within Conservation Areas. Our aim is to develop a clear but flexible brief which can respond to changing circumstances, ensuring that cost information is part of the design process at each stage.

We strive to make each project an enjoyable and satisfying experience for every client. Simon Fitzgibbon graduated in Cardiff and joined the practice in 1988. He has extensive experience in managing both small and large contracts and was an Associate with the practice for a number of years before becoming a Director.

He is particularly experienced as a project architect in detail design and specification of both new and historic fabric, and in dealing with English Heritage and local authorities on difficult planning and construction issues. Simon is a accredited 'Eco-Refurbisher' and a member of the Green Register which promotes sustainability issues throughout the building industry.
Services
Reconstruction of the former heated glass-house to form a new garden room accessed from the porch area. Ground floor extension to an existing house to create a larger dining room and to increase the amount of living accommodation.
Conversion of a Grade II Listed building into a bar/ restaurant for Loungers UK Limited. Works include repair of the existing fabric on a 'like for like' basis and the removal of some of the modern, unsympathetic, interventions in the existing building. A highly glazed flat roof extension to enclose the existing roof terrace, increasing the trading area of this Grade II Listed building on Park Street.
The extended foyer provides an entrance hall with an area for informal gatherings and meetings. The design incorporates the continuity of space between the outside terrace, the foyer and the inside of the church. The terrace and landscaping provide access for wheelchairs. The brief was to design an upgraded entrance and lobby to the existing church, with a particular requirement for disability access.

Report
Outstanding service from start to finish. A lovely small and extremely friendly company. From someone trying to build an entire new home, I didn't feel intimidated or patronised. If I didn't understand something, the staff talked me through it. Their attention to detail is second to none. Their fees are very clearly set out and explained in full before the work is undertaken with no "hidden shocks!". Very well managed & entirely professional.
I highly recommend Richard Pedlar Architects. Thank you for your service. We will be back!
